Things to do in Split, Croatia

Updated: Jan 25

Unlike Mykonos, Ibiza, and Barcelona, Croatia is still relatively undiscovered but brings a flare of all three.

However, since joining the Schengen a year ago, there has been an influx of tourism worldwide. Whether you're looking for an island escape or trying new cuisines, the possibilities are endless in this beautiful country. We know it may seem overwhelming to plan what to do and where to go, so we made a list of the top things you must do while traveling to Split.

  1. Split Boat Party: If you're looking for a day trip to the Blue Lagoon with some extra fun, add a Boat Party to your itinerary. It's a great way to simultaneously have a boat excursion with a party. You are on vacation, so treat yourself to a few drinks while you set sail in the Adriatic Sea because that is one of the best things to do in Split, Croatia! We highly recommend Out To Sea Split as one of the boat parties you should attend. You can't go wrong here between free shots, a live DJ, two bars on board, and the cheapest tickets in town. They even offer free VIP club entry into one of Split's biggest nightclubs.

2. Walk along the Riva- There's no better way to explore a new city than just walking around and getting lost. It's the best way to discover hidden gems and sightsee. Walking along the Riva is one of our favorite things for many reasons. You can grab a cup of coffee and sit on one of the many benches while watching the port, or you can choose from any restaurants overlooking the water.

3. Marjan Park - If you're in Europe, odds are you're indulging in some good food and drinks. It is some of the best cuisine in the world. Nobody loves to work out on vacation, but with views from Marjan Park, it's completely worth the hike. This hike only takes about 30 minutes, and the top will leave you speechless. Pro Tip- Try to come here during sunset or sunrise for the best views.

4. Game Of Thrones Museum- OK, ok… we know it sounds weird to put this on our list of things to do, but Game of Thrones is enormous in Croatia. If you're a GOT nerd like most of us, take some time out of your day to check out the Game Of Thrones Museum and learn where the set was filmed. Maybe you can even get an excellent souvenir for your friends back home.

5. Try Cevapi- There are plenty of local dishes to try in Croatia, but Cevapi is always at the top of the list, and for good reason. It's almost like a gyro with fresh bread, sausages, onion, sauce, and any other add-ons you may want. It's the perfect meal for any time of the day and especially for those late-night cravings. The best place to find this dish is at Kantun Paulina; if there's a line, don't be intimidated. It's worth the wait!

6. Diocletian's Dream- This is one of the coolest new concepts in Split. If you want to see what the palace looked like hundreds of years ago, stop by Diocletian's Dream and try their virtual reality tour of the city. By putting on the headset set, you can step back into 305 AD for 15 minutes.
